Two men are working on the construction or maintenance of a red barn, standing on a small ladder and adjusting a section of the barn's wall or roof with tools. If you are handy with tools or want to learn how, we have plenty of projects all year!

About the Project:

  • My name is Wyatt Martin from troop 133. I am 17 years old and am a senior at my high school. I am a life scout and have done scouting for around 6 years. I have participated in many eagle scout projects before and other service projects, but this time I am leading one. I was introduced to Martha's choice through my mom, who volunteered there. I really liked what Martha’s Choice is doing, so I decided to do my project here. They had a few projects, but the one where it seemed like I could make a lasting impact was the barn renovation.

  • The project is to renovate the inside of the Red Barn at Martha’s Community Farm. Currently, Martha’s Community Farm does not have a site for maintenance, repair or construction projects. After Wyatt Martin’s Eagle Scout project renovations are complete, the new workshop will facilitate the triaging of equipment, woodwork, and, overall, will be a significant operational enhancement and efficiency. The renovations consist of:

    · Repainting the interior to include all walls, surfaces and ceiling

    · Installing and painting floor decking for a new floor surface

    · Installation and painting a counter top board for a thirty foot workstation floor.

    · Some materials that will be used are primer, interior wall paint, porch paint, nails and OSB and MDF board.
